The First Women Sapsan Train Drivers Will Begin Work in January, 2021

Beginning in January 2021, the Ministry of Labor of the Russian Federation will allow women to work as drivers of electric suburban trains, as well as fast and high-speed trains such as the Sapsan. This is the first time since 2000 when the list of potentially dangerous occupations for women is being updated. Many professions formerly listed either no longer exist or the working conditions have significantly changed making them no longer harmful to women’s health and therefore, more attractive for women.  JCS RZD points out that there is no need to adapt the locomotive cabs specifically for women as they fully comply with vibration and noise standards at the workplace.
